Sarah Fung Psychology

I am a queer, bicultural Chinese woman, born and raised in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Treaty 6, Edmonton) to immigrant parents from Malaysia. My lived experiences as a second-generation Canadian and queer woman deeply shape the way I approach therapy and connect with clients. I understand the nuances of navigating the world and systemic oppression with multiple identities, and the challenges that can arise from intergenerational trauma and the loss of culture and language.

My approach to therapy is trauma informed and rooted in Client-Centered Therapy, Intersectional Feminist Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I believe in the power of healing through relationships, where trust, safety, and authenticity are at the forefront of the therapeutic process. As a therapist, I offer a non-judgmental, attuned, consistent and reliable presence to create a safe space where you can be fully yourself. I view you as the expert of your own life, and I am deeply honored to walk alongside you in your journey of healing and growth.

I have a background in human resources and business after completing my undergrad at the University of Alberta (2007-2012), where I gained valuable life skills in relationship-building and communication. Through personal growth and reflection, I transitioned into a career in counselling, graduating with a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle (2019–2022). I volunteered on the CMHA Distress Line during the pandemic and gained hands-on experience as an intern therapist at The Family Centre. In 2023, I began working as an adult counsellor at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE), providing support for individuals who have experienced sexual violence. My work at SACE ignited a passion for supporting marginalized communities
